On December 15, 2020, within the framework of the Cooperation Mechanism of Tax Administrations of the "One Belt, One Road" Initiative (hereinafter referred to as the Mechanism), a high-level virtual conference was held dedicated to new challenges, new opportunities and a new future - planning the development of tax digitalization in the context of a pandemic (hereinafter referred to as the virtual conference).
The Virtual Conference was attended by tax officials from 47 countries of the world, as well as representatives of 9 international organizations.
The Tax Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan at this Virtual Conference was represented by the Chairman of the Tax Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Davlatzoda Nusratullo Mukim and First Deputy Chairman Solekhzoda Ayubjon Maruf.
The Chairman of the Tax Committee in his speech spoke about the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and directly by the Tax Committee to reduce the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the business environment and to curb its spread by expanding electronic services.
Also, the Tax Committee prepared a presentation on the topic of "Development of Tax Administration of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Digital Age" presented to the participants of the Virtual Conference.
Participants in the Virtual Conference recognized that the impact of COVID-19 will be vast and long-lasting, requiring coordinated and reliable mechanism responses, as well as multilateral cooperation to advance socio-economic development and build a closer "One Belt and One Road" community with a shared future.
In order to jointly strengthen the modernization of tax administration, it was proposed to strengthen the tax infrastructure, quality control and application of common data analysis, and to create a data management mechanism acceptable to the national and tax authorities of the Mechanism members.
At the end of the conference, the participants adopted a Joint Statement and expressed their readiness for fruitful cooperation and exchange of experience to improve tax administration in the member states of the Mechanism.
